Why selling your old Subaru now is a good idea


It’s been a crazy two years for Subaru of America. Subaru retailers drop sale of nines 2022 Subaru Forester, Outback and Crosstrek and offer their used cars to customers. This is due to the fact that Subaru has a severe shortage of new 2022 Forester and Crosstrek models in North America.

Just drive by any Subaru dealer in the United States, and you won’t find many new Subaru Forester, Outback and Crosstrek models on their lots. If you do, they have already been pre-sold and are awaiting pre-delivery inspection and their new owners to collect them.

Do you need to sell an old Subaru?

If you have a car you don’t drive, there’s never been a better time to sell or exchange your old vehicle. Due to recent changes, many employees are now working from home and do not need a second vehicle. There’s never been a better time to unload that vehicle sitting in the driveway.

Subaru retailers need your old model and will pay top dollar to get their hands on it. They have more buyers than cars and want lightly used 2020 or 2021 low mileage Forester, Outback and Crosstrek SUVs.

How do you know if you are getting the best price for your car?

There are many excellent automotive websites that offer free car values. NADA and KBB are excellent examples. You can check the value of your used Subaru and enter armed with current information. It’s a great idea to cross paths with different Subaru dealerships. You might find a better deal at another retailer.

A recent report from we-ha.com says all new car dealerships are badly in need of inventory. A Subaru owner had an expiring lease. Subaru wasn’t negotiating, so he went to a Honda dealership and actually got a year of car payments applied to his new lease on a new Honda for selling his old Subaru to that dealership.

Do you have to buy a new car to sell your old model to a Subaru dealership?

Retailers will offer to buy your car even if you are not buying a new 2022 Subaru from them.
