Vape Firm Heist, Prowler: Elmhurst Cops


ELMHURST, IL – Over the past few days, Elmhurst police have been handling cases involving a burglary at a vaping business, a prowler, a stolen car, trespassing and a sidewalk fall. Here is the information from the latest police reports from Elmhurst:

Burglary of a vaping business

  • The glass front door to UD Vape, 533 W. Wrightwood Ave., was smashed in Saturday night. Vaping devices and CBD products were strewn about. An investigation is underway.

  • In the 900 block of South Caldwell Avenue, surveillance footage showed a woman trying to enter a house and cars in the driveway shortly before 3 a.m. Wednesday. The woman was seen entering the resident’s backyard before driving off in a darkened sedan. The incident was reported about 20 minutes later. An investigation is underway.

  • The branch manager of Enterprise Leasing, 896 N. York St., told police Monday that a customer returned a vehicle after learning it had been reported stolen in Tennessee.

  • A resident of the 100 block of West Madison Street told police on Sunday that her son was walking his dog when a dog from a nearby yard bit her dog through the fence.

Damage to the car

  • A person told police someone scratched their car and partially peeled off the registration sticker around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sandburg Middle School, 345 E. St. Charles Road.


  • A dark brown planter was stolen shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday from a business in the 400 block of South Spring Road. A witness said they saw a person steal the planter and leave the area in a gray Honda Accord. An investigation is underway.


  • Get Bazzy, 152 N. York St., on Wednesday asked police to issue a no trespassing notice to a suspect who was inconveniencing customers.

  • A person fell onto a sidewalk around 4 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of North York Street. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Identity theft

  • A resident of the 300 block of Huntington Lane told police on Monday that someone had used his personal details to open a fraudulent bank account. The resident suffered no financial loss.


  • Victor Vela, 32, of Chicago, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday on Route 83 and Riverside for drunk driving and misuse of lanes. He was released on bail.

To guarantee

  • Destiny Mattox, 25, of Berkeley, was arrested at noon Monday in the 100 block of North York on a Glendale Police Department warrant and illegal disabled parking. She was turned over to Glendale Police.

Driving offenses

  • Margaret Dotson, 64, of Madison, Wisconsin, was cited around 1:30 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of South York for driving with a suspended license, failing to report an accident, misusing the lanes and driving a vehicle in motor uninsured. She was released on bail.
