Ford is following in the footsteps of some of its competitors with the installation of rules from above that will prevent buyers from reselling the F-150 Lightning for a year after purchase. GM, Honda and Tesla have already made the move to try to capture some of the profits buyers make from the resale of in-demand electric vehicles in this booming market. The Blue Oval will also allow its dealers to omit the purchase contract from Lightning leases altogether, requiring lessees to resell their trucks back home at a fixed rate.

But ask Ford, and they’ll tell you it’s for the environment: “Ford Motor Company is committed to making battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) more sustainable and affordable for our customers by locating the chain’s complex network battery supply chain, creating recycling options for the end of outsized vehicles and increasing battery production in the United States. A BC driver who got herself into a messy situation, which wasn’t her fault, had to rely on the kindness of strangers and a GoFundMe account just to get her car cleaned. The woman called ‘Jane’ was traveling to her home in Surrey, British Columbia on June 16 when she encountered a stranger in distress and bleeding profusely. The man got into his car uninvited and asked to be taken to hospital. But when Jane collected her car from police investigating the incident, it was still covered in bloodstains – stains that required cleaning for which ICBC said it was not coveredand for which the Provincial Victims of Crime Program also seemed unwilling to help directly.

Initial vehicle quality worse than ever, JD Power

JD Power reports the worst scores in its US Initial Quality Study (IQS) in the 40 years the group has been following it. The study examines the number of problems experienced by new vehicle owners, essentially giving a barometer of overall product quality. And this year it revealed an 11% increase in issues per 100 vehicles (PP100), signaling a drop in quality with 18 more PP100s compared to 2021.

“Given the many challenges automakers and their dealerships have faced over the past year, it’s somewhat surprising that initial quality hasn’t dropped even more dramatically,” said David Amodeo. , director of global automotive at JD Power. “In general, baseline quality has shown steady improvement throughout the history of this study, so this year’s decline is disappointing, but understandable.”

However, not all manufacturers were affected in their initial quality rankings; GM improved overall, earning the top spot for auto companies, while brands like Buick and Genesis also performed well. Check out the rankings and find out more here.
