PNH soldier unharmed in officer involved in shooting in Washoe Valley, near chocolate factory | Carson City Nevada News


Law enforcement agencies, including the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, were called to an officer involved in a Wednesday afternoon shooting involving a Nevada Highway Patrol soldier north of the Old 395 exit on the parking lot of the chocolate factory.

According to NHP spokesman Charles Caster, the incident involved a soldier and another subject who fled on foot following an incident and a possible hit and run. The suspect was shot dead by the NHP soldier. The soldier was not injured.

The person was transported by land ambulance to Renown Medical Center in Reno and is in stable condition, according to KOLO.

A Honda sedan is believed to be the vehicle of the suspect involved. NHP Private Charles Caster said KRNV 4 News that the incident started around 2:15 p.m. at the south end of Eastlake Boulevard when soldiers attempted to stop the suspect, but the driver exited the freeway and continued north on US-395A .

The Honda sedan, which was found in the parking lot of the Chocolaterie, suffered extensive damage to the front. According to the report via scanner, the suspect ran off and was arrested by the NHP soldier. Caster confirmed that the suspect was shot.
