A free Santa Ana festival to treat moms royally – NBC Los Angeles

Your mother’s accomplishments, selflessness, kind heart, and utter genius are all worthy of being crowned.

In short, she’s got a full royal tude, and spending part of Mother’s Day on a show that whimsically celebrates some of the movie queen’s most famous gems sounds like a fabulous fit.

And even more fabulous? Mothers can enjoy the Disney-themed exhibit at a discounted rate, courtesy of the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana.

In fact, the cultural destination, whose artistic roots date back to 1936, has become known for its Mother’s Day celebrations, including the fun fact that moms can enjoy free entry to the museum’s permanent galleries.

The tradition of celebrating moms continues on Sunday, May 8. That’s when the Bowers will host an outdoor International Mother’s Day Festival, complete with music, dance performances and a pop-up mini nail station presented by SoCal dealers Helpful Honda (mini massages will also be available).

The four-hour festival begins at 11 a.m., with fiddle, Chinese harp and guitar, and other soft musical interludes filling the festive schedule.

Oh yes, and crafting is also part of sunny days; Chinese paper carnations and fridge magnets will be the two projects presented.

As for the free entrance to the museum for mothers and grandmothers?

General admission to the museum will be free for mothers on Mother’s Day, and discounted tickets to “All That Glitters: Crown Jewels from the Walt Disney Archives” will also be available for moms.

The glittering show features props and props from ‘The Princess Diaries’, ‘Cruella’, ‘Aladdin’ and The Heart of the Ocean from ‘Titanic’.

These tickets? The mothers in your group can enjoy the show for an additional $10.

Important to know? You’ll need to purchase those discounted tickets there at the museum on May 8. For all the information on this Mother’s Day special, visit the Bowers Museum website now.
